A total of 12, 000 persons are registered with the Association of Americans and Canadians, 5,000 of whom live in kibbutzim, it was reported today at the annual meeting of the Association at the ZOA House here.
The 150 delegates and 500 guests at the meeting also were told that 37 American experts and their families had settled in Israel under a special program of the Jewish Agency and the Israel Labor Ministry while 28 more experts had signed contracts with private firms in Israel.
The information on the special program was given by Israel Labor Minister Yigal Alon and the information on the total number of Americans in the association by its president, Ruth Bockstein. Prizes in memory of Hadassah founder Henrietta Szold were given to a number of Americans in various settlements who have lived in Israel more than 25 years.
