About 12,000 of Rumania’s 90.000 Jews are receiving economic assistance under a program conducted jointly by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Federation of Jewish Communities in Rumania, Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen of Rumania said here today. Dr. Rosen told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the needy Jews received cash subsidies which are mailed to them as well as a yearly grant for clothing and other help. He said infirm Jews are given meals at their homes and receive medical attention at all times. He said there were nine kosher restaurants which are used daily by about 2000 people on the relief program. Rabbi Rosen visited here to attend a meeting of the European Executive of the World Jewish Congress. He told the JTA that he had just met with the JDC directorate in Geneva where a relief budget for 1971 was adopted.
