More than 12,300 displaced Jews from Europe were resettled in Israel, the United States and other countries during the first six months of this year, it was reported here today by the Joint Distribution Committee which sponsored the resettlement program.
A semi-annual survey released by the agency’s Paris emigration service headquarters revealed that of the total number of DP’s resettled through June 30 of this year, 5,000 emigrated to the Jewish state while 2,200 were admitted to the U.S. The majority of the other 5,000 DP’s emigrated to Latin America and Canada.
