Five-hundred Jewish refugees from Cyprus arrived here this morning, bringing to 1,250 the number of deportees who have been returned from that island in the last 24 hours. Another 500 are due here Tuesday.
Last night’s arrivals were transferred to a Jewish Agency camp at Kiryat Schmuel, near Chedera, to await release under the Dec.-Jan. immigration schedule. This morning’s arrivals, together with the 500 due on Tuesday, will be held at the Athlit clearance camp until they are eligible to be released under subsequent monthly quotas.
