Approximately 13,000 Jews have been executed by the Nazis in Lwow since the capital of Eastern Galicia was occupied by the German army, it is reported in advices from Lwow published today in Pravda, official organ of the Communist Party.
Pravda also discloses that the prize of 200,000 rubles, highest Soviet award, given last week to the Jewish professor Jacob Parnas of the Lwow University was given to him for his discovery of a blood substitute which was successfully used on wounded Russia soldiers in place of blood transfusions. The Soviet Government is now contemplating mass-production of the substitute evolved by Prof. Parnas, the Pravda states.
A weekly radio broadcast in the Yiddish language was started today by the Kuibyshev radio to keep the Yiddish-speaking population posted on the details of battles at the front. A plenary session of the Jewish anti-Fascist Committee, which consists of sixty of the most famous Soviet Jewish writers, actors, scientists military leaders will be held here on May 24, it was announced today.
