A 14-member Israeli delegation headed by Mayor Mordechai Ish-Shalom of Jerusalem has arrived in Washington to participate in the world conference of local governments that commenced here today.
The Israeli delegation constitutes the connecting link between the present conference and the 15th Congress of the International Union of Local Authorities (IULA) which was held in Israel last year. The IULA flag is being transmitted by the Israeli delegation from last year’s host city, Tel Aviv, to Washington, D.C., the 1961 host city. The Israel delegation includes the Mayor of Nazareth, Seif El-Din Zuabi, an Israeli Arab.
