The lower East Side was the scene on Monday night of an anti-Hitler meeting attended by about 1,500 persons including a few of the oldest residents of the community.
The group gathered in Public School 4, Rivington and Ridge Streets, under the auspices of the East Side Division of the American Jewish Congress.
Speakers, who included State Senator Samuel Mandelbaum, Adolph Feldblum, Gustave Hartman, Florence C. Harris, Rabbi Morris Schatz, Rabbi Louis I. Newman and Dr. Samuel Margoshes, editor of The Day, after assailing Germany’s political tactics, predicted the downfall of Chancellor Hitler. The audience pledged a boycott of German products. Dr. A. H. Rosenzweig presided.
