An estimated 15,000 fugitive Dutch Jews are being sheltered in homes of Christians, to prevent their deportation from the country, according to private advices received here today. The report states that the Nazi police are combing the country for the Jews and are severely punishing persons in whose homes they are found. It also confirms that the Jewish council of Amsterdam has been dissolved and all its members deported.

The Nieuw Rotterdamsche Courant, a German newspaper published in Rotterdam, reports that damage by vandals to homes formerly occupied by Jews in Amsterdam has been so great that the municipal council has authorized the expenditure of funds necessary to block windows and doors. Stone taken from areas bombed by the Nazis in 1940 when they invaded Holland will be used.
