The Jewish National and Hebrew University Library is in possession of 150,000 books, of which 31,000 are in Hebrew, according to a statement made to press representatives by the Director of the Library, Dr. M. Bergman.
Judaica numbers 1,800 books and the Medical branch 14,000 books. The Orientalistic branch (Arabic and Islamitic) is one of the richest in the East. More than 1,000 papers and journals are being received by the Library. Among those who make use of the Library are Christians and Moslems, priests, teachers and scholars.
The new building of the library which is now being erected will cost £35,000.
