According to the latest statistics issued in Berlin, there were 1,048 Jewish marriages there in 1936 and 18 religious mixed marriages. In the same year 494 Jewish children were born of Jewish parents. The number of Jewish deaths was 2,438.
The number of Jewish children attending secondary schools in Berlin in 1936 was 733 as compared with 1,334 in 1935. 464 Jewish children attended the girls’ secondary schools as compared with 1,081 in the previous year. There were 135 Jewish children attending the grammar schools as compared with 221 in the previous year. There were 2,674 in 1935, and 69 attended the special schools as compared with 95 in the previous year. Altogether 4,075 Jewish children attended the schools in 1936 as compared with 6,477 in the previous year.
In the same year the Berlin Jewish Community had a membership of 150,654. The sum of 641 Jews left the Community in the same year.
