A total of 1,600 Jewish displaced persons from Austrian and Czechoslovakia sailed for Israel during the week-end from various Italian ports.
Israel’s first Minister to Italy, Shlomo Ginossar, arrived here today with his staff and was greeted by representatives of the Italian Foreign Ministry, civil authorities, the Israeli Consul-General in Rome, Arieh Oren, and a delegation of Jewish leaders headed by the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, Dr. Raffaelo Cantoni.
