More than 1,600 Jewish emigrants will leave for Palestine before November 1, the Palestine immigration bureau revealed today.
Already 230 colonists are en routs to the Holy Land on the steamer Balticum. Next Sunday, about 1,000 embark at Constanza, Rumania, on the liner Polonia for Haifa and in late October 400 more will sail.
Reports that a group of emigrants who left here yesterday might be refused entry into Palestine by the British government were denied by the immigration bureau.
A warning that unless 10,000 new workers arrive in Palestine within two months, economic catastrophe will follow was sounded by A. Dobkin, director of the immigration department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Mr. Dobkin said that negotiations were now under way with the Palestine government regarding the coming immigration schedule. Recognition of the need for more labor power has been given by the Holy Land administration, he said.
