One hundred and sixty-four academic degrees and diplomas, the largest number in the institution’s 56 year history were today conferred at the 22nd annual commencement exercises of Yeshiva University.
Three honorary degrees were awarded at the exercises. Judge Learned Hand, nationally known jurist, received the degree of Doctor of Laws; New York Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri received a Doctorate in Humane Letters; and Prof. Samuel L. Sir, Dean of Men at the University, was honored with the degree of Doctor of Divinity
Last night a testimonial dinner was given in honor of Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University Who is marking his tenth anniversary in the office. A $500,000 scholarship fund to honor Dr. Belkin was established at the dinner.
