More than $17,000 was pledged in the campaign conducted throughout the Rockaways and adjoining communities to the United Jewish Appeal, it was announced at a testimonial dinner to John L. Leibowitz of Woodmere, L. I., at the Jewish Centre, Far Rock-away.
The announcement was made by Mr. Leibowitz, who served as fund chairman. He said that the amount represented $2,000 more than the quota fixed for the area.
Informal talks were given by Rabbi William B. Schwartz, of Lawrence, L. I., and Rabbi Irving Miller of the Congregation Shaaray Tefila, Far Rockaway.
