Eighteen Zionists between the ages of 16 and 24 died in exile or committed suicide in Russia between 1924 and 1928 as a result of their exile by the Gepu, political police, according to a memorial publication, entitled “Yiskor,” issued by Russian Zionists here.
The names listed are the following: Bertha Levin, 16, committed suicide after being released from a Minsk prison; Solomon Feldman. 20, was drowned on his way to exile in Siberia; Jacob Moiscev, 21, died in exile in Khirgizia; Zevi Lisdor, 21, committed suicide in Siberian exile; Isaac Binnerstein was killed while trying to escape from exile and proceed to Palestine; Freda Eventov. 23, died of consumption in exile; Samuel Braunstein was shot in prison by a guard; Zev Pinkovsky, 20, committed suicide after he was forced to disavow Zionism; Isaac Weissman. 20, was drowned in the Urals; Sonia Katz died from disease contracted in exile in Tobolesk; Isaac Baraslavsky, 24, became melancholy in exile and committed suicide; Souia Drunovsky, 18, committed suicide when she was forced to repudiate Zionism before being released from prison.
