If the present rate of Jewish immigration to Canada continues for the rest of this year, 1948 will have been the largest year for Jewish immigration since the beginning of the first World War, Saul Hayes, executive director of the Canadian Jewish Congress, revealed here today.

An undetermined number of Jews entered Canada this year under various industrial projects, as well as under the “Immigration from Britain” plan, Hayes said. In addition to special projects providing for the admission of Jewish DP furriers, tailors and orphaned children, the Congress has undertaken to bring in a group of refugee millinery workers, he reported.
