More than 2, 000 women pledged a total of $1, 200, 000 today to the 1962 campaign of the Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York. The pledges were made at four simultaneous luncheon meetings which, with a roundtable discussion, inaugurated the 24th annual campaign.
Speakers at all of the luncheons discussed the impact on the people of Israel being made by the greatly increased immigration to that country and they called for increased support of the UJA to speed the integration of the newcomers. The initial pledges were an advance of $100, 000 over those of the opening luncheons of the 1961 campaign.
