A MILITARY COURT AT NAZARETH TODAY SENTENCED AN ARAB FATHER AND SON NAMED FARADJ TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR POSSESSION OF ARMS IN VIOLATION OF EMERGENCY REGULATIONS PROMULGATED TO STAMP OUT PALESTINE TERRORISM.

SENTENCES OF TWO OTHER ARABS CONVICTED OF CARRYING ARMS HAVE BEEN REDUCED BY MAJOR-GENERAL A.P. WAVELL, ONE FROM SEVEN TO FIVE YEARS, THE OTHER FROM FIVE TO TWO YEARS. UNDER THE EMERGENCY REGULATIONS, THE BRITISH COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF HAS THE POWER TO PASS ON ALL SENTENCES OF THE NEWLY-CREATED MILITARY TRIBUNALS.

REVERSING ITS PREVIOUS APPROVAL OF TERRORISM, THE PALESTINE COMMUNIST PARTY PUBLISHED A MANIFESTO DENOUNCING INDIVIDUAL ACTS OF VIOLENCE AND CALLING FOR “MOBILIZATION OF THE MASSES AGAINST THE PARTITIONING OF THE COUNTRY,” THE HAVAS NEWS AGENCY REPORTED.
