Dr. J. David Kleinlerer, correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, and Dr. Paul Cremona, correspondent of the Christian Science Monitor and London Observer, have left Italy after last-minute diplomatic efforts to obtain cancellation of their expulsion orders had failed.
The Polish Embassy intervened with Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano in behalf of Dr. Kleinlerer, who is a Polish citizen and was also the correspondent of the official Polish Telegraphic Agency. The United States Embassy also intervened, on the ground that the Jewish Telegraphic Agency is an American corporation. Dr. Kleinlerer left for London tonight, and many of his colleagues saw him off from Rome.
The last efforts of Lord Perth, British Ambassador, to prevent the deportation of Dr. Cremona, who is a British subject, failed, and he left with his family for the French Riviera last night.
