Two Israel Defense Force soldiers were slightly wounded and two Lebanese were killed by a car bomb in the security zone in south Lebanon today. The dead included the bomber, a 13-year-old boy.
The IDF spokesman said that an IDF unit, on routine patrol watching out for terrorists, noticed a suspicious-looking Mercedes car parked at the side of the road near Arnoun, some five kilometers from the border north of Metullah. A teenage boy was sitting behind the wheel.
As the soldiers hurried to get clear, the car exploded, killing the youth and a passerby. Two IDF soldiers were wounded by shrapnel and were flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. Today’s car bombing attempt in south Lebanon was the fourth such incident in the past month, during which there have also been a number of other attacks against the IDF and the South Lebanon Army troops.
