Two Israeli soldiers and two Lebanese civilians were killed in an explosion near an Israel army post adjacent to the Ein Hilwe refugee camp at Sidon in south Lebanon today. A third Israeli soldier was wounded, an army spokesman reported. The army launched an immediate search for the perpetrators.
The incident brought to four the number of fatalities sustained by Israeli forces in Lebanon this week. Two reserve lieutenant colonels were killed Tuesday when their jeep struck a mine in eastern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, fighting intensified today between Christians and Druze in the Shouf mountains of eastern Lebanon and in Khalde and other villages on the coast south of Beirut.
