Two Israeli soldiers were wounded last night when an Army vehicle was attacked in the Golan Heights, a military spokesman reported. Sporadic shooting continued yesterday along the Suez Canal but there was no repetition of the eight-hour artillery duel that raged from Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday, the spokesman said.
He said yesterday’s shooting was begun by Egyptian snipers. It was followed by machine-gun fire and further escalated by volleys of mortar and artillery shells. The shooting would subside for long intervals and resume again following the same pattern, the spokesman said. There were no Israeli casualties.
