A British soldier was killed and two others were injured today when a military lorry hit a land mine planted by terrorists at Tulkarem. The victims, all of the Second Black Watch regiment, were Private David Hood, who was killed, and Private Robert Irvine and Hugh Spalding injured.

A Jewish auxiliary policeman was killed and a colonist was wounded yesterday in an Arab attack on Jedda, near Nahalal. The policeman was Zvi Levine, 24, who immigrated to Palestine from Poland five years ago. The settler, Henach Globinsky, was seriously injured by bullets which penetrated his wooden hut.
