$2 Million Raised by Us, Canadian Businessmen to Aid Israel’s Second Aircraft Manufacturing Plant

American and Canadian businessmen have succeeded in raising almost all of the $2 million needed to establish Israel’s second major aircraft manufacturing plant, it was announced last night by Meshulam Riklis, a businessman from the United States. The new plant will be built at Carmiel, a new immigrant township in Upper Galilee and will start operations as an aircraft assembly plant. It will assemble the Trilander, a three-engined commercial transport with a capacity for 13 passengers. The new firm will be headed by Gen. Ezer Weizman, former commander of the Israel Air Force and former Minister of Transportation who heads the executive committee of the Herut faction, Gen. Weizman promised today that ground-breaking ceremonies for the factory will be held very soon.
