With three officers of the Federation of Kosher Butchers’ scheduled to be tried in Queens Special Sessions Court October 8, in connection with an alleged kosher meat racket, two more members of the Federation were arrested in the investigation of complaints against monopolistic practices of the Federation by the Anti-Racket Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s office, it was learned yesterday.
The two men arrested, Harry Bender, 6820 Rockaway boulevard, and Hyman Zaidman, 3420 Edgemere road, Rockaway, were held in $1,000 bail each for Special Sessions charged with violation of the Donnelly Act. They will probably come up for trial October 8 with the other three.
Charles Cohen, president of the Federation, Philip Kipnis and David Schatz, also officers, were arrested July 31 by detectives of the Anti-Racket Bureau after indictment by the Queens Grand Jury on charges of conspiracy. They are now out on $1,000 bail each.
