Two young women were injured, neither of them seriously, when a small explosive device detonated in a suburban Jerusalem supermarket today. Several Arabs were detained for questioning. The device was believed to have been concealed in a loaf of bread.
The incident was the second in Jerusalem this month. Three weeks ago a large explosive charge was discovered near the Old City walls and safely defused. Jerusalem has been relatively free from terrorist acts in recent months. Local authorities expressed hope that today’s supermarket explosion was not the start of a new wave of terrorist attempts in the city.
