The newspaper Petit Nicolis reports a number of anti-Jewish incidents in Nice, climaxed on Aug. 14 with a demonstration that was quickly stopped by the police.
The demonstration was led by a group of youths shouting “Down With Jews!” Two of the ringleaders were arrested and will be tried. During the night anti-Semites broke into eight Jewish-owned shops in the center of Nice.
Meanwhile, it was learned here that 90 percent of Jewish refugees trying to return to occupied areas are being turned back at the frontier by the German authorities, who ask all refugees applying for readmission to state their religion and racial origin.
The office of the Jewish National Fund in Paris and the apartment of its manage have been raided by the Nazi. Correspondence files were seized.
The Paris anti-Jewish newspaper France at Work demands elimination of Jews from public sales and from all sporting associations, particularly boxing. The newly-organized Paris youth organization, Youth at Work, is not admitting Jews as members.
