Twenty persons were under arrest in Dombrowa today in connection with yesterday’s anti-Jewish excesses in the Bialystok town which were precipitated by raising of the ancient “ritual murder” charge against the Jews.
In an official communique, the Bialystok authorities explained the incident was caused by a Christian boy who jumped through a window and, slightly wound by broken Class, shouted: “The Jews wanted to slaughter me for matzos.”
The communique asserted that an “excited, uncritical mob” launched attacks in which several persons were wounded, Jewish shops demolished and windows of Jewish homes smashed. Order was restored by arrival of police from Grodno and Bialystok.
A delegation from the Jewish Relief Committee has been sent to Dombrowa.
