Despite the heavy influx of new immigrants, Israel is able to maintain its ratio of one doctor to every 450 people, Dr. M. Mayer, head of the medical service of the Ministry of Health, announced today.
This development is made possible by the continuing arrival of qualified physicians among the immigrants, he said, reporting that some 200 doctors arrived in the last five months. One hundred and twenty-six of them, he stated, have already been licensed and are working for Kupat Holim, the Histadrut medical network, or for government institutions.
