More than 2,000 persons, including many leaders of various Jewish and general labor organizations, attend funeral services here today for Nathan Chanin, founder and chairman of the administrative committee of the Jewish Labor Committee, and honorary chairman of the Liberal Party, who died Sunday at the age of 79. Mr. Chanin, secretary-general emeritus of the Workmen’s Circle, largest national Jewish fraternal order, was also the founder of the World Congress for Jewish Culture.
At the services he was eulogized among others by Alex Rose, leader of the Liberal Party; Adolf Held, chairman of the Jewish Labor Committee; Yudel Borenstein, vice-president, and Benjamin Gebiner, executive secretary of the Workmen’s Circle; and Benjamin Tabachinsky, executive director of the Jewish Labor Committee. Among the messages of condolence was one from New York’s Mayor Robert F. Wagner.
