Austrian Minister of the Interior Oscar Helmer has announced in Vienna that 2,000 Austrian Jews who settled in Palestine after the “Anschluss” have applied for permission to return to Austria, it is reported today by Reuters.
Helmer stated that many of those desiring to return are doctors, teachers and technicians who can be of great assistance in rebuilding Austria, but the Government is not able to facilitate their repatriation until the Allied Control Council allows the Government to grant them travel papers.
