More than 2,000 pupils from 60 senior and junior high schools took part today in the annual Hebrew Language Contest sponsored by the New York Board of Education at Hunter College here.
The contest is administered by the Hebrew Culture Council of the Jewish Education Committee of New York and the American Association of Teachers of Hebrew in cooperation with the Hunter College Hebrew Department. More than $1,250 in prizes will be awarded as well as four partial scholarships from the Hebrew Culture Council to the 1961 Israel Summer Seminar, a ten-week study tour of Israel and Europe for high school students.
