Some 20,000 government workers will stage a two-hour strike throughout Israel Thursday in protest against delays in settling a number of grievances. One of the major grievances is the government’s failure to pay approved wage increases back to the establishment of the state.
All government services except the most essential will be hit by the action and government hospitals will be manned only by emergency forces. Interurban traffic and telephonic communcation will be affected, but the seaports, airfields and international communications will remain in normal operation. Trains scheduled to leave home stations during the two-hour period will be halted, but trains already en route will be permitted to continue.
