$20,000,000 Housing Corporation Established in Israel; Capital to Be Sought Abroad

Establishment of a new $20,000,000 Jewish national housing corporation, “Amidar,” was announced here today by Dr. Israel Goldstein, treasurer of the Jewish Agency.

The Israeli Government, Dr. Goldstein said, is providing both moral and financial support to the venture. It will contribute half of its capital, with the rest to be shared by the Jewish National Fund and public housing companies.Capital will be fought through debentures, which will be sold abroad by the Israeli Government. The greater part of the capital will be composed of United Palestine Appeal funds.

The board of directors of the new corporation includes Eliezer Kaplan, Israeli Finance Minister, Dr. Abraham Granovsky, president of the Jewish National Fund, David Horowitz, economic advisor in the Ministry of Trades and Industry, and Levi Eshkol, lead of the Jewish Agency’s agricultural department.
