Gabriel Cohen, 22 year old Jewish sculptor of Brooklyn won the award in a competition for a bust of Baruch Spinoza in which thirty-two sculptors throughout the country took part.
The award was in the amount of $200. The judges were Howard Giles, Dean of the Art Department, Master Institute; George Gray Barnard, James Frazier, Fausta Vittoria Mengarine and Pietro Montana. Cohen studied at Cooper Union and is at present at the Beaux Arts Institute of Design. Recently he won second place in the Paris Prize Competition of the Beaux Arts Institute.
