Two hundred and twenty Jewish refugees fleeing from Greece have been captured by the Italians and taken to Rhodes, where they are now serving in compulsory labor battalions at work repairing roads, it was disclosed today by Turkish fishermen who returned from a visit to that island.
The refugees, including both men and women, are facing starvation as a result of small food rations. Urgent appeals for assistance have been directed to various Jewish institutions.
