A resolution bearing the signatures of 225 Democrats and Republicans–more than half of the total membership of the 435 in the House of Representatives–was presented today in the House calling on the Nixon administration to resume deliveries without further delay of Phantom jet aircraft to Israel, “That’s an enormous number,” Rep. Hale Boggs (D., La.), the House Majority Leader, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “You very seldom have that number of Congressmen signing anything.”
The resolution was introduced by Rep, Emanuel Celler (D.,N.Y.). It is identical to the one offered in the Senate on Oct. 15 by Senate Minority Leader Hugh Scott (R., Pa.) which was sponsored by 78 Senators, or more than three quarters of that body’s 100 members. The Senate resolution is now in the hands of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee headed by Sen. J. William Fulbright.
