Twenty-three Arabs and two British soldiers were killed in a battle late yesterday at Ismia, near Mt. Carmel, marked by fierce hand-to-hand fighting. Five other soldiers were wounded, two of them seriously, in the engagement between a British force assisted by Royal Air Force planes and a large Arab rebel band. The troops bivouacked on the battlefield overnight and this morning resumed their searches for the dispersed band.
