Twenty-three Jewish emigrants from the Soviet Union arrived at Kennedy International Airport on two flights today, the United Hias Service reported. One of the flights also brought a single Jewish immigrant from Poland. All were assisted by Hias.
According to the world-wide Jewish migration agency, the 22 Jews who arrived on the first flight comprised six family units and one single person and were the largest number of Jewish emigree from Russia to arrive on a single flight this year. Five of the six families were reunited with relatives from Brooklyn. Queens and the Bronx and the sixth family joined relatives from Hillside, N.J. All of the Soviet families entered the U.S. under the Attorney General’s parole authority, Hias said. The single Russian emigre was reunited with family from Boston. The emigre from Poland will be resettled in Dallas, Texas.
