Two-hundred and thirty orthodox religious and community leaders and 310 orthodox youths from communities throughout America will leave this week for Israel under programs sponsored by the Torah Education Department of the Jewish Agency. Zvi Assael, department director, said the 540 participating in the departments hishtamut program would tour the country getting to know the land and the people, meet with their peers in Israel, and attend seminars and meetings. The rabbinical and community leaders are from five organizations: The Rabbinical Alliance of America, The Metropolitan Commission of Talmud Torah Education of the Jewish Education Committee, the National Council for Torah Education of Religious Zionists of America, Torah Umesorah’s National Conference of Yeshiva Principals and the Association of Orthodox Jewish Teachers in NYC Public Schools.
