A total of 2,329 students are enrolled at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, it was reported here at the annual meeting of the Institute’s international board of governors. The board adopted budgets, set priorities for new buildings on Technion City, and paid tribute to overseas contributors whose generosity has made possible the expansion of the educational facilities.
Of the student body, 1,571 are studying for their Bachelor of Science degrees in the eight faculties and departments of the Technion, 87 are in the graduate school preparing for Masters’ and Doctors’ degrees in various fields of engineering and technology, and 671 are enrolled in the Institute’s Technical High School.
A program for rapid expansion on the grounds of the new Technion City on Mount Carmel was adopted at closing sessions of the annual meeting of the board. In addition to the six buildings completed or now under construction, five more structures were added to the priority list by the board. At the same time the board decided to proceed with the first stage of construction of the Technical High School, which will be named in honor of the school, leading benefactor, Alexander Konoff of the United States.
