Two hundred thirty-four Israeli soldiers killed since the 1947-48 War of Independence and whose bodies have never been found were memorialized here today. Deputy Prime Minister Yigal Allon spoke to their families, telling them that Jews honor the dead to the same extent they honor the living. Among the 234 were victims of the Dakar submarine disappearance and of the destroyer Eilat, the latter torpedoed by Egyptians after the cease-fire agreement. The Central Memorial services were led by Chief Army Chaplain Maj. Gen. Shlomo Goren.
