Two hundred and fifty Jewish orphans arrived here yesterday from five DP camps in Germany on a special train provided by the French government, it was announced by the J.D.C.
The children are mostly of Polish and Hungarian origin. This is the third party of children admitted to France in the course of the last six months. Special transit visas have been granted to these children, who await emigration to Palestine and other overseas countries. The total number of children admitted to France under this scheme is 809.
The costs of transportation and of maintenance of the children are met by the J.D.C., while transportation and housing arrangements have been entrusted to various child care agencies, including the French Youth Aliyah. Pending re-emigration, the youngsters have been lodged in five children’s homes in various parts of France.
