Approximately 2,500 Jewish DP’s will be transferred from the Jewish Adriatica DP camps, near Milan, to the International Refugee Organization’s camp at Trent, several miles from Bari. Police officials in Milan explained that they plan to convert the Adriatica camp into a police “stronghold” in preparation for the coming national elections on April 18.

Nearly 1,000 of the Jewish refugees have already been moved and the remainder will be transferred by the end of this week. Many of the Adriatica refugees have been shifted in and out of five different refugee camps in Italy since their arrival in the country.
