More than $250,000 was pledged here at the annual Jewish National Fund Chanukah banquet for the John F. Kennedy Forest in Israel. Senator-Elect Robert F. Kennedy of New York, the guest of honor, told the gathering of more than 2,000 persons of the late President’s interest in Israel. The money pledged at the meeting matched the nearly $250,000 subscribed previously to meet Southern California’s quota of $500,000 for the Forest.
Other speakers included Mayor Samuel Yorty of Los Angeles, Rabbi Max Nussbaum, president of the Zionist Organization of America, Rabbi Jacob M. Ott, Benjamin H. Swig of San Francisco, president of the West Coast JNF, and Milan Roven, president of the Los Angeles JNF Council.
