Two gifts of $1,000,000 each were announced here this evening for Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israeli at a dinner honoring Dr. Joseph H. Lookstein, acting president of the University, for his 40 years of service to Jewish communal life and Jewish education throughout the world. The total raised at the dinner attended by more than 450 persons was nearly $2,500,000.
Phillip Stollman of Detroit, national chairman of Bar-Han, announced a gift of $1,000,000 on behalf of the Stollman family, for the construction of an administration center on the 45-acre campus. A contribution of $1,000,000 by the Gustav Wurzweiler Foundation was announced by Dr. Max Gruenwald. A library named after Gustav Wurzweiler will be Israel’s second largest library, stocking nearly 500,000 volumes.
