The 25th anniversary of the death of Luigi Luzzatti, one of the most outstanding figures in Italian Jewry’s recent history, was commemorated here at a ceremony attended by leading Jewish personalities, representatives of the government, of Italian cultural organizations and of financial institutions.
Dr. Luzzatti, a professor at the University of Rome, was six times a Minister and once a Premier of Italy. In addition, he was a world famous economist and sociologist and created the system of People’s Banks in Italy.
In Milan, the University of Milan dedicated a memorial to Frederico Enriques, noted Italian Jewish mathematician. Present at the dedicatory ceremony were members of Parliament, representatives of the Ministries of Interior and Education and scientists and educators from this country and abroad.
