A charge that “virtually every private country and city club” in Southern California bars membership to persons on religious or racial grounds was made here today by Bruce I. Nochman, regional executive committee chairman of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith.
Mr. Nochman made that charge after reporting that a survey has shown that 26 country and city clubs have a quota system for the admission of Jews to membership. Of the total of 59 clubs examined in the survey, he said, 27 reported that they have no religious bars regarding membership.
