A preliminary count of yesterday’s voting for delegates to the World Zionist Congress revealed that somewhat over 260,000 votes were cast, although some 650,000 shekolim were sold in Israel. Jewish Agency circles stressed that at least 35 per cent of the 650,000 shekolim were never distributed or were lost by their original purchasers. Therefore, they said, actually 60 per cent of the distributed shekolim were voted.
