Security forces have detained 28 persons on the West Bank for questioning in connection with a terrorist cell uncovered in the Judaea and Samaria regions, it was disclosed today. The cell was affiliated with the Syrian-backed Al Saiqa terrorist group and its members are believed to have been responsible for two terrorist acts on the West Bank and in Israel last summer. A Nablus military tribunal was told today that the discovery of an E1 Fatah terrorist cell in Tulkarem on the West Bank averted possible death or injuries to many Israelis from letter-bombs According to testimony, the cell’s leader, Jamal All Ahmed, personally prepared letter-bombs from specially made explosives that he apparently obtained while visiting Lebanon seeking recruits for E1 Fatah. Ahmed was arrested before the lethal letters were mailed. He and his associates were active during the Yom Kippur War trying to prevent West Bank Arabs from working in Israel.
